Ummm....not quite so much. Now don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible and it looked great, but I just wasn't feeling any love for the soda bread. It sort of reminded me of a spongy communion wafer with fruit. Apologies if I've offended any Irish folks out there or my devout Mom; maybe I just made a bad batch. But if you'd like to make the Irish soda bread for yourself you can get the recipe at Chocolate Moosey and My Culinary Mission.
I love this recipe! Compared to the "Rugelach-mission" it was a piece of cake, sorry, bread!
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks great!
Definitely a dense bread. I enjoyed it, but only after maing some drastic changes to the recipe.

I had to laugh when you compared it to a communion wafer. There's a treat made in Mexico that's dulce de leche between two wafers. My uncle brought a bag of it home with him and as we all tasted it, we felt like we were doing something wrong - the wafers were the same taste and texture as Communion wafers!
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't enjoy it - the loaf looks beautiful. I especially like your first photo.
I'll take any leftovers off your hands...looks great to me!
ReplyDeleteyour bread still looks great even though you didn't enjoy as much as you would have hoped ;) I love that you baked it in a cast iron, I wish I'd thought of that!
ReplyDeleteSpongy communion wafer :-) Funny
ReplyDeleteSorry this wasn't a hit for you
